Our Story
The field of Obstetrics and Gynecology recognizes the importance of having a holistic approach to health. With an increasingly aging population, there is a growing demand for more information and services for women transitioning into menopause and post-menopause. Achieving success in the NAMS Menopause Competency Examination provided the knowledge, expertise, and credentials required to give help to these women. Many women were not comfortable mentioning the word menopause. Others were not sure of what to expect with the opening of the Menopause Centre of Jamaica.
It is an honor and a privilege to have represented the Government of Jamaica, the Medical Association of Jamaica, The Commonwealth Medical Association at the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women, Beijing China, meetings at the Commission on the Status of Women, United Nations Headquarters New York, the United Nations Population Fund Headquarters New York. Being featured on tv, radio, the Award-Winning menopause movie Hot Flash Havoc as a subject matter expert, newspapers, magazines, other publications have given more opportunities to share information. Being a part of a USAID project in Ghana West Africa, improving the knowledge of doctors, lady pharmacists, on injectable contraceptives, addressing the topic of menopause, osteoporosis (brittle bone disease), healthy aging, nutrition, at medical conferences, community groups, wellness groups in the workplace were other opportunities to share information.
Certificate Program in Plant-Based Nutrition, T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and Herbalife Global Nutrition Philosophy Training reassure us that healthy aging is possible. Eating healthy foods gives us the protein, carbohydrates, fats and plant nutrients our bodies need. When we eat foods that provide what we need our bodies will work better. With our busy schedule, many of us do not have enough time to eat as we would like to. Taking vitamin supplements, Healthy Meal Replacement Shakes ensures we are getting our nutrients for better management of our weight as we age. Entrepreneurship training with Bill Walsh, Powerteam International is taking us to the next level. Together we can better understand and prepare for this significant milestone in women’s lives.
